She is fairly new to Jalopnik iirc. I think she caught a lot of mess for the article she did talking about banning cars. A lot of people took offense to the article and it has just been an ongoing thing since then.

Edit: She comes from Gizmodo apparently. Shows you how much i have paid attention to it.

Alissa Walker is a Gizmodo writer who has a unique and different perspective on things. Some of her views I agree with, some I don’t. But nevertheless, the hate that is frequently directed her way is irrational and unfounded. She’s a different person with a different viewpoint - that’s not something to hate her for.

I understand your well metered stance, but I think the hate (based on the evidence or lack thereof on GM) comes from her disinterest in addressing, or even acknowledging dissenting opinions.

She only (rarely) congratulates the echos of her own voice, never addresses even her most gross mistakes.

I must be reading this wrong, because it looks like you’re saying you shouldn’t adjust how you interact with people in response to their behavior. I don’t think that’s what you mean, because is one of the textbook traits of a sociopath. It shows a clinical lack of empathy.

Just because someone else disagrees with you or acts disrespectfully, that is not a justifiable reason for behaving poorly in turn.

Be respectful, no matter your stance. If you feel you can’t do that, go elsewhere.
